During this fun evening at Nicole's Restaurant in Albany, over 30 women:

• Wined and dined on delicious hors d'ouevre, dessert confections and "after-5" beverages
• Met other women who want to make their communities a better place
• Raised $550 for the Women's Fund Education Initiative through our "Power of the Purse" silent auction, featuring fabulous pocketbooks and gift baskets
• Learned how they can join the Women's Fund and have an impact on the lives of women in the Capital Region

This year's Freihofer's Walk was a big success: our team raised $2,145 for Women's Fund programming.

First, thank you to our walking team. We had nine people walking on Saturday, June 2.

During this fun hour at United Way of the Greater Capital Region, over 30 women enjoyed this informal and inspirational event learning:

• where the Women's Fund is now
• where we're going in the future
• how they can be involved
• about our volunteer opportunities and our mentorship program
• about the success of our women's scholarship program

This was so enjoyable and successful that we'll be having other similar events in the future.

Almost 300 people who share the Women’s Fund’s belief in investing in the future of the women and girls in our community attended the fourth Trailblazers Awards Luncheon on Friday, November 18 at the Desmond Hotel & Conference Center. They joined Honorary Committee Co-Chairs, Dr. Shirley Ann Jackson and Jan Smith, as the Women’s Fund of the Capital Region recognized three outstanding women as the 2011 Trailblazers.
