Over 75 people attended at our second annual Grant Program Kickoff program at New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) on Tuesday, November 6, 2007.
At this program, Laurie Bacheldor of United Way of the Capital Region shared learning about both the value of collaboration and the challenges found in collaborative efforts. She also presented several examples of successful collaborations, commenting about how the collaborations were formed, the selection of collaborative partners, and how partners overcame threats to the collaboration.

Almost 300 people attended at our first annual Trailblazer Luncheon at The Desmond Hotel and Conference Center on May 15, 2007.
At this luncheon, we honored the three outstanding Trailblazing Women of 2007 in recognition of their philanthropy: Teri Bordenave, President and CEO of Girls Incorporated of the Greater Capital Region; Charlotte Buchanan, Retired, McNamee, Lochner, Titus & Williams; and Jeanne Neff, Ph.D, President of The Sage Colleges.

Our speakers were: Susan Wefald (keynote), Vice President of Planning and Strategy at the Ms. Foundation, and Ai-jen Poo, Lead Organizer for the Domestic Workers United. Elaine Houston, News Anchor, WNYT, emceed this event which raised almost $15,000.

Thank you to everyone who attended our inaugural event at the Century House. More than 140 people attended, and we raised $34,000!
Keynote speaker Abigail Disney, past president of the 19-year-old New York Women's Foundation, offered inspiring comments about why women-led philanthropy is vitally important for the well-being of families and communities.
