ALBANY, NY – The Women’s Fund of the Capital Region is pleased to announce that two outstanding women of achievement have been named as 2013 Trailblazers.
On Friday, November 18, 2011, the Women's Fund of the Capital Region honors three outstanding women at its signature Trailblazers Awards Luncheon at the Desmond Hotel & Conference Center. Philanthropist and civic leader A.C. Riley, Ruth Mahoney, President KeyBank Hudson Valley/Metro New York, and Julie Massry Knox, Sales and Marketing Manager Tri City Rentals will be recognized as the Trailblazing Women of 2011.
ALBANY, NY – The Hudson Valley Community College Foundation has awarded six $2,500 scholarships to students at the college through a gift of $15,000 from the Women’s Fund of the Capital Region. The scholarship fund was established to assist adult women in completing their education and pursuing career aspirations.

Founded in February 2006, The Women’s Fund of the Capital Region promotes the independence, growth and self-determination of women and girls by supporting projects that create systemic change and move women and girls toward financial stability and independence. Since 2007, the fund has granted $168,000 to area programs.
ALBANY, NY – Rachel Simmons, best-selling author and national expert on girls and bullying, will present a public lecture and a workshop for educators on Tuesday, October 6. Simmons authored “Odd Girl Out: the Hidden Culture of Aggression in Girls,” the New York Times best seller based on interviews with 300 girls across the country on aggression and bullying. She has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show, Today, Dateline NBC, and NPR and this fall will be featured in a PBS special program.
