E. Kristen Frederick

Executive Director, American Contract Bridge League Educational Foundation, Consultant/Owner “Fitting Solutions” Marketing/Communications Management

Kristen is a former Director of Development and Communications, American Red Cross of NENY; a former President and CEO, The Community Foundation of the Greater Capital Region and a founding member of the Women’s Fund of the Capital Region.

Kristen has always been one who looked at a need and sought to meet it.  Early in her career, as an advocate for bereavement counselling, she worked to establish the Samaritans of the Capital District, Widowed Persons Services, and the Albany Friends of Hospice and served on the NYS Hospice Association as a trustee.

Her strong commitment to community volunteerism led her to become a long-term member of the Junior League of Albany, where she held a term as President in 1998.  In addition to being a trustee for the Albany Symphony Orchestra and Albany Institute of History and Art committee, she participated in the Executive Roundtable, GenNextMentor, Tech Valley Civic Forum and the Tech Valley Nonprofit Business Council.  In these organizations, Kristen recognized the value of education and partnership, especially to offer economic self-sufficiency for women.

In 2006, through her leadership at the Community Foundation of the Greater Capital Region, she collaborated with the leaders of the area United Ways (Greater Albany and Schenectady) to create a fund specific to creating philanthropy by women for women – The Women’s Fund of the Capital Region. 

Kristen has been recognized as a “Marketer of Excellence’ by the Northeast Chapter of the American Marketing Association, a Woman of Excellence by the Women’s Business Council of the Albany - Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce, and ‘Volunteer of the Year’ by the Council of Albany Institute of History and Art. She was a recipient of the Junior League of Albany’s Sustainer Bowl and the Albany YWCA “Tribute to Women” award.

While in “retirement” on Cape Cod, Kristen saw another need and became a Volunteer Wildlife Rehabilitator and received Veterinary Assistant certification from Penn Foster College.  In her move back to the Albany area, she has become active with American Contract Bridge League Educational Foundation, leading to her current position as Executive Director, where she is marketing and developing curriculum to promote bridge to diverse communities.

Deborah G. Mullaney
Community Volunteer

Debby Mullaney has dedicated herself to community initiatives that support women, girls, men, boys, families and children. The sick, elderly, schools, neighborhoods and underserved populations have all benefited from her service and commitment. By her voluntarism she has been able to take risks and achieve successes that might not have been available through other means.

As a Board member and then Chair of both Ellis Medicine and Ellis Hospital Foundation Debby was active in responding to the changes in Schenectady’s healthcare system when the three local hospitals merged. She chaired and worked on several successful fundraising campaigns.

Through her work with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Schenectady she has helped Schenectady youth to become caring, productive and responsible citizens. She has served on the Board of Directors for 11 years and the Auxiliary for over 25 years. Debby has held numerous leadership roles and organized many of the large fundraisers, including working on the committee to raise $13 million to build a new clubhouse in inner city Schenectady.

Debby was instrumental in the founding of the Court Appointed Special Advocates program (CASA) in Schenectady County. CASA trains volunteers who assist Family Court to advocate for the best interests of children who have been either victimized by or are at risk of abuse and neglect. Now after 30 years this valuable program has thrived and helped thousands of children and families.

She is currently Chair of the Schenectady Foundation, a charitable trust established in 1963 to benefit the health and welfare of the people of Schenectady County. This foundation seeks to be a catalyst for change through its initiatives, grant making and collaborative work with community partners.
Debby has been recognized with The New York Hospital Trustee Leadership & Advocacy Award, New York Senate Women of Distinction Award, Niskayuna High School Hall of Fame Inductee, and the YWCA Woman of Achievement Award.

She also currently serves on the Board of Trustees for The Charlton School for Girls and The Visiting Nurses Association Board.

Debby is a graduate of Connecticut College with a bachelor’s degree in American History. She received a Master’s Degree in History from SUNY at Albany. She is married to Michael Mullaney, Esq. and they have 4 grown children and 10 grandchildren.
