Our Inaugural Event
February 16, 2006

Thank you to everyone who attended our inaugural event at the Century House. More than 140 people attended, and we raised $34,000! Photo of women at Feb. 06 event photo by: JoanHeffler.com

Photo of Abigail Disney Keynote speaker Abigail Disney, past president of the 19-year-old New York Women's Foundation, offered inspiring comments about why women-led philanthropy is vitally important for the well-being of families and communities.

She said the key is to convince Capital Region women that they can do more collectively than any of them could do alone. "$1,000 is just $1,000. But 10 women giving $1,000 is a really powerful thing," she said. "There's an enormous amount of power in collectivity."

The energy and excitement in the room was tremendous (and contagious!) and set a positive tone for the Women’s Fund. Photo of women at Feb. 06 event photo by: JoanHeffler.com

"How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world."
-- Anne Frank
